Tim Normanton ~ Banjo
Tim plays four string tenor banjo for English dance. His early influences include Jimmy Shand. Lonnie Donegan, and a father who loved Trad jazz.  Tim went on to survive a spell on heavy rock bass before moving to the English dance tradition with his ukelele.  He has been a long standing member of Grand Union, his solid rhythmic playing adds a keen percussive edge to the music for dance.  In recent years Tim has played as part of the English dance band, “Housewives’ Choice”, adding new tunes such as “Poppa  Piccolino” and “The Navy Lark” to the English dance tune repertoire.  He lives in a workshop in Stroud.
